A growing number of people worldwide have learnt how to make items using Appropriate Paper-based Technology (APT) techniques. These workshops are making chairs, standing frames and other useful items for children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. These workshops provide a valuable service of empathy and encouragement as well the necessary assistive equipment. Some also make craft items to help with income generation.


APTers in University Teaching Hospital Lusaka, Zambia

The APTers have a workshop in the grounds of UTH and visitors are welcome.
They make chairs, standing frames and other assistive equipment for sale.
As well as helping many physically challenged people they make craft items for sale.
Centre for Rehabilitation for the Paralysed (CRP) Bangladesh
As well as helping people with spinal injuries CRP runs services for children with cerebral palsy.
There is a workshop making chairs and toys as well.
Wukwashi wa Nzambi – Ben Doree workshop, Zambia
 Based on a farm near Kitwe some of the Wukwashi Volunteers are making chairs and standing frames.
