Cerebral Palsy Africa (CPA)

Paper Furniture Social Enterprise works in aid of the charity Cerebral Palsy Africa.

The objects of the charity are to alleviate the effects of cerebral palsy on African children. This is done as sustainable as possible with training for therapists in conjunction with government programs and non-government organizations and also with training for people who could make the equipment needed.

Scottish Charity No. 036501

CPA sends experienced Paediatric Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to give specialist training to Therapists, Teachers and also groups of Community-Based Rehabilitation workers in African countries on treating children with cerebral palsy.
As well as this CPA sends people to train technicians, therapists, teachers, parents, community workers and other interested people, to make APT equipment. Cost is a huge issue in countries where people struggle with day-to-day living. There has been an increasing number of requests for training to help people make effective individualized equipment for the differing needs of the children in their area. This can supplement the local provision of equipment and literally help children to be in a position to learn new skills.

CPA has run training with local government and non-government organisations in Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya and most recently, in Uganda.

Now Paper Furniture Enterprise is giving people in the UK the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable experience in joint community projects.
